What is drill positioning?
Drill positioning is a targeted concrete scan where we determine the exact locations where you can safely drill without hitting rebar, prestressed cables, or embedded utilities. This is essential when placing anchors, creating penetrations, and mounting attachment points in concrete structures. Drilling through reinforcement can lead to structural weakening, costly repairs, and dangerous situations. Our drill positioning service prevents these risks.
During drill positioning, we scan the concrete surface at the exact location where you want to drill. With the Hilti PS1000 X-Scan, we map out which rebar, cables, and utilities are located beneath the surface. Based on this information, we mark directly on the concrete where you can safely drill and where you cannot. This prevents drilling through reinforcement (which can weaken the structure), hitting prestressed cables (with serious safety risks), damaging embedded electrical or water lines, and unnecessary project delays and repair costs.

How does drill positioning work?
The drill positioning process is quick and efficient. First, you discuss with our specialist where you want to drill and for what purpose: anchor holes, penetrations, mounting points, or openings. Next, we scan the relevant area with the Hilti PS1000 X-Scan. The ground-penetrating radar creates a detailed image of the reinforcement layout and any utilities beneath the concrete surface. Results are visible immediately, allowing us to determine safe drilling positions on the spot. We mark these positions with markers on the concrete and advise on the maximum drilling depth. Determining a single drill position can take as little as 15 minutes. For larger surfaces or multiple drilling locations, expect 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on the scope.
When do you need drill positioning?
Drill positioning is indispensable when placing anchor holes for fixings and suspensions, creating penetrations for electrical wiring, water, and drainage, mounting attachment points for facade elements and heavy fixtures, placing chemical anchors and adhesive anchors in concrete, and creating openings for new utilities or installations. Especially during renovations of existing buildings, remodeling projects, and installation work, drill positioning is standard practice. Contractors, installers, and construction companies throughout North Brabant rely on our service to work safely and efficiently in concrete.
What do you receive?
Direct marking on the concrete of safe drilling positions with markers. On-site verbal advice regarding maximum drilling depth and suitable drilling method. Optional digital report (PDF) with scan results and photos for your project file. Clear marking of zones where drilling is not permitted.
